Celebrating The Lenten Season

As the Lenten season starts today, I was inspired by Trident Seafoods CEO Joe Bundrant to stop and reflect. For the past eight weeks, I have been a proverbial fish out of water acclimating from the livestock industry to the seafood industry. In these short eight weeks, I have learned that there are more commonalities than differences between the hardworking farmers I have had the pleasure to work with much of my career, and the hardworking, brave fishermen I have had the pleasure to meet.

These fishermen are the reason we exist and many of their grandfathers and fathers are the reason the Wild Alaska Pollock industry grew into the advanced, sustainable and impressive industry it is—while remaining committed to its core values and tight knit community.

This season is one where fish takes, for many Americans, center of the plate in a way it doesn’t during other periods of the year. This is our opportunity to connect with consumers and bring them into the story behind Wild Alaska Pollock, to show them firsthand the people behind the fish and just how perfect this protein is. I am excited to take full advantage of all this period has to offer and use this as a launching point for our campaigns throughout the year. It’s time that Americans ate more fish no matter the time of year!

To the hardworking men and women that make up #TeamWildAlaskaPollock—thank you for what you do. For the consumers looking for the perfect Lenten meal—look no further than delicious, nutritious and sustainable Wild Alaska Pollock or, as those of us on the Team call it, WAP!
