Powered by Wild Alaska Pollock: Industry Partners with Seattle Mariner AJ Pollock to Score Runs and Raise Awareness
SEATTLE, Wash.— The Wild Alaska Pollock industry has announced a new partnership with Seattle Mariner AJ Pollock who will be using social and traditional media to raise awareness about the fish, the Association of Genuine Alaska Pollock Producers (GAPP) announced today. Allen Lorenz "A. J." Pollock, who joined the Seattle Mariner’s franchise this year, will also make an appearance at the fifth-ever Wild Alaska Pollock Annual Meeting on September 28th at the Four Seasons, Seattle.
“This partnership makes so much logical sense—and not just because A.J. Pollock shares his name with our favorite whitefish,” said Bob Desautel, CEO of Global Seas and GAPP Chairman of the Board. “With a loyal fanbase from across his career and a platform to raise awareness about the amazing attributes of our fish, Wild Alaska Pollock, AJ is an amazing new spokesperson and partner for us this year. Add to that the All-Star Game coming to Seattle this summer and you have a home run for sure!”
Already this year, GAPP has partnered with Trident to sponsor the Seattle Kraken and recently announced it will be featured in a full-page advertisement in the MLB All Star Game Program as well as the season program for the Seattle Seahawks. The newest addition to the industry’s sports partnership, AJ Pollock is an American professional baseball outfielder for the Seattle Mariners of Major League Baseball. He has previously played in MLB for the Arizona Diamondbacks, Los Angeles Dodgers, and Chicago White Sox. Pollock also played college baseball for the Notre Dame Fighting Irish.
Through social media interaction, posts, reels and contests—Pollock will use his platform to educate and engage with consumers about Wild Alaska Pollock, sharing interesting tidbits and information about the fish and fishery. Pollock will be one of the keynote speakers at the fifth Wild Alaska Pollock Annual Meeting in September and share his story with attendees about baseball, food, and personal values—many of which he shares with the fishermen and industry leaders who make this industry what it is.
“AJ is a fitting addition to our meeting agenda, and we know that he’ll be a huge draw for Mariners and non-baseball fans alike,” said Craig Morris, GAPP CEO. “Our meeting theme is all about people and we’ve had the pleasure of partnering with some truly phenomenal influencers and this meeting serves as a great platform to share those stories, as well.”
Themed “The People Behind Wild Alaska Pollock: Real Stories about the Fish and Fishery the Drive Global Demand,” the one-day event to be held on September 28, will once again be hosted by Seafood News’ Amanda Buckle, serving as the Master of Ceremonies and will also feature invigorating speakers including celebrity chefs, key industry global customers and GAPP partners, and important content including the latest research around consumer perceptions of Wild Alaska Pollock around the world and fishery updates.
For the first time, the event will be held at the Four Seasons Hotel in downtown Seattle and will run from 8:30am – 5:00pm with an evening reception to immediately follow. Registration is available here for those wishing to register to attend the Wild Alaska Pollock Annual Meeting either in-person or virtually.
