Consumer awareness and familiarity with Wild Alaska Pollock varies around the globe yet is increasing, according to new proprietary research conducted by the Wild Alaska Pollock industry and that will be unveiled at the industry’s upcoming Annual Meeting, the Association of Genuine Alaska Pollock Producers (GAPP) announced today. Senior representatives from research firms Ketchum Public Relations and Bonamy Finch will present the new consumer research that took place in the U.S. and key European markets, respectively, at GAPP’s second-ever Annual Meeting to be held virtually on October 12th.
“This research is ‘hot off the presses’ and very encouraging about consumers’ desire to try and buy Wild Alaska Pollock and their understanding of the fish’s attributes,” said Craig Morris, GAPP CEO. “We’re excited to give our Annual Meeting attendees the first deep-dive into these consumer survey results and what it means for our industry and its marketing and promotion efforts.”
GAPP conducted the proprietary research to be presented in August and September. Similar research was conducted in the U.S. last year and presented at last year’s Wild Alaska Pollock Annual Meeting and formed the basis for the Wild Alaska Pollock toolkits released earlier this year. The U.S. research conducted in September measures the year-over-year improvement in U.S. consumers’ awareness and familiarity. In Europe, the research conducted will establish a baseline to measure future gains in awareness and familiarity and industry marketing and promotion efforts.
The second annual Wild Alaska Pollock meeting, scheduled to take place on October 12, 2020 from 8:00am to 1:00pm PST, will be held virtually and will feature a variety of engaging speakers. Attendees will engage with presenters using both Zoom and a meeting app called Whova, where they can ask questions, participate in polls and earn points towards Wild Alaska Pollock “swag” throughout the meeting.
Attendees will also be invited to a networking virtual “Happy Hour” from 3:30 – 4:30pm PST, hosted in partnership with the Garrigan Lyman Group. During the Happy Hour, attendees will debrief from the day, have the opportunity to network and collaborate and participate in games and trivia in a fun virtual setting.
“We hope to see many industry partners and collaborators in attendance on Monday to hear these and our other phenomenal speakers,” said Morris. “We can’t wait to kick off our second-ever event with a bang and share these new and exciting insights with the full industry!”
