GAPP Hires Jonathan Ochoa as Marketing and Membership Coordinator

Jonathan (Jon) Ochoa joined the Association of Genuine Alaska Pollock Producers (GAPP) as its Marketing and Membership Coordinator, the organization announced today. Ochoa, a Washington native with a deep background in digital marketing, graphic design and food and beverage photography will assume responsibility in this role for GAPP’s social media and online presence, work with GAPP’s agency of record, Ketchum, Inc., in executing marketing and communications campaigns, and have direct responsibility for many of GAPP’s membership efforts including newsletters, material development and events including GAPP’s flagship-event, The Wild Alaska Pollock Annual Meeting set this year for September 28, 2023, at the Four Seasons Seattle.

“Jon is a go-getter who understands how to create break-through content for digital platforms and with his photography skills and graphic design know-how will elevate GAPP’s online presence, our presentations and visuals for members, and our ability to connect with influencers and build awareness for our fish,” said Craig Morris, GAPP Chief Executive Officer.

Previously, Ochoa served as an Organic Content Marketer for Nectr Social in Seattle and in Chicago as a Brand Marketing Specialist for Bitewell, Inc. Most recently, Ochoa operated a freelance photography and social media strategy business, doing work for local Seattle clients in the food, beverage and music industries including Copperworks Distillery, Compass Realty, Stag’s Leap, StreetBean Coffee, and others.

Ochoa was selected from more than 120 applicants for the position and joins recently-hired Ron Rogness on the GAPP staff today. In his role, Ochoa will assume responsibility for GAPP’s Marketing Committee, all of GAPP’s social media and digital activations and work closely with Ketchum to activate influencer marketing campaigns and other communications efforts. Working closely with Rogness, Ochoa will also assist in membership outreach and management of GAPP’s Associate Membership Program as well as special events.

“Jon’s past experience and his passion for visual storytelling will help GAPP continue to build the best brand there is: the brand of Wild Alaska Pollock,” said Morris. “His creativity will no doubt be an asset to our organization, but more so to our industry as we work collaboratively to continue to introduce more people to Wild Alaska Pollock and its incredible attributes.”
